Carbon raiser, also known as carbon additive or recarburizer. It is usually used in converter smelting or high-carbon steel smelting. The carbon additive used in the top-blown converter steelmaking requires high fixed carbon content, low content of impurities such as ash, volatile, moisture, sulfur, and phosphorus.
The size: 1-5mm. (The particle size is too small the burnt loss is high, while the particle size is too big, it will float on the molten steel, and be hard to be absorbed.)
Classification of carbon raiser
On the basis of materials, it can be generally divided into calcined petroleum coke (CPC), graphite petroleum coke (GPC), calcined anthracite coal (CAC). natural graphite, and composite material carbon raiser, etc.
Specification of carbon additive
Calcined petroleum coke (CPC)
The calcined petroleum coke (CPC) mainly originates in Liaoning, Tianjin, and Shandong. Liaoning mainly produces shot coke, which is not suitable for casting. The calcined petroleum coke from Shandong and Tianjin can be used in gray pig iron casting.
Other carbon additives
The natural graphite carbon raiser is mainly used in the steel industry, it is not suitable for the foundry industry.
The composite material carbon raiser is a kind of prefabricated carbon raiser in stick particles or spherical particles, which is mixed with graphite powder, coke powder, petroleum coke, and other foot materials, adding binder with machine pressing molding.
C: 93-97%, S: 0.09-0.7%. It is characterized by the low price, but the disadvantage is that it cannot control the carbon addition and the sulfur content.
